- You have received a dermal filler treatment, with hyaluronic acid. It is normal to experience some swelling, redness, or bruising, which should gradually subside within 1-14 days.
- Swelling may be more noticeable the morning after treatment due to sleep. You can take antihistamines to help this if needed.
- Arnica tablets or gel can help with any discomfort, and bruising, if present, may take up to two weeks to fully resolve.
Dos & Don'ts
- Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area. If the treatment is near the eyes, take extra care to avoid pushing or applying pressure to this area.
- Do not lie down for at least 4 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid applying pressure to the treated area.
- Avoid makeup on the treated area for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
- Refrain from excessive heat for 48 hours, such as hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, or prolonged sun exposure.
- Avoid heavy exercise and alcohol for at least 48 hours following treatment.
- For skincare, use a gentle cleanser and avoid harsh exfoliants or strong skincare products for a few days.
- Avoid facials, facial massages, or skin resurfacing treatments for at least two weeks.
How Soon Will I See Results and How Long Will It Last?
- You will notice the effects immediately, although the final results will become clearer once any swelling subsides.
- Dermal fillers typically last 9-12 months, depending on the product used and your individual metabolism.
When to Seek Immediate Advice:
Please contact us immediately if you experience any of the following after your treatment:
- Severe/worsening pain or swelling
- Pain or visual disturbances in the eye area
- Discoloured blotches that may resemble spreading bruising
- Skin blanching, which appears as areas of skin whitening
- If the area of skin becomes cold to touch.
- Pustules or blisters on the skin.
- Skin becoming red, inflamed, or hot to the touch.
- Increasing skin itchiness.
Key Concerns:
- Vessel Blockage by Filler: Though extremely rare, this requires immediate attention to prevent scarring. Skin signs include discoloration, severe pain, and the area feeling cold to the touch. If this occurs, contact us immediately.
- Anaphylaxis: A rare, life-threatening allergic reaction. If you feel unwell immediately after your treatment and notice swelling or redness around your lips, face, neck, or elsewhere, contact us. If you are no longer at the clinic, call emergency services (999) and explain that you are concerned about anaphylaxis.
